Bernadette L. Peters was born Bernadette. Lazzara in Ozone Park Queens New York 28 February 1948 is a singer/songwriter, as well as an author of children's books. Over the course of a career that has spanned more than five decades, she has appeared in musical theatre film and on television, along with performing in solo concerts and recordings. Her name is one of the most well-known actors. The actress was nominated in seven Tony Awards (winning two), she also won eight Drama Desk Awards. Grammy Awards were won for four Broadway casts albums that she appeared on. Peters performed as a child on stage, and then was then acted in teenage roles during the 1960s and the 1970s. She was praised for this early work and for appearances as a character on The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show and in other TV shows and also for her performances in films such as Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven and Annie. The 1980s saw her return to theatre saw her become one of the Broadway's most famous stars for over three decades. The singer has released six solo albums, as well as a number of singles, along with album of cast members. She also performs regularly in her solo concert act. Peters is also a regular performer in films and on television in which she was nominated for the award of three Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards winning once.
